    1 minute to learn

The New England Patriots’ offensive line can have just a few matchups in opposition to an outdated pal through the 2025 season.

Former Patriots linebacker Matthew Judon signed a one-year cope with the Miami Dolphins on Monday that may attain as much as $6 million, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

It’s been a tumultuous yr for Judon, who earned two Professional Bowl nods throughout his three seasons in New England.

After recording 32 sacks over his 38 video games with New England from 2021-23, Judon turned embroiled in a public contract dispute with the Patriots throughout coaching camp forward of the 2024 season — ultimately prompting the crew to trade the veteran to the Atlanta Falcons for a 2025 third-round pick.

New England later traded down from that Falcons choose (No. 77 general) a number of instances within the third spherical — ultimately utilizing these offers to pick out offensive lineman Jared Wilson (third spherical, No. 95 general), defensive finish Bradyn Swinson (fifth spherical, No. 146 general) and a 2026 fourth-round choose.

As for Judon, his lone season in Atlanta didn’t fare too nicely. After rising as one of many extra impactful go rushers within the NFL, Judon was restricted to simply 5.5 sacks over 17 video games with the Falcons — together with simply 1.5 sacks in his first 10 video games.

In response to Ryan Smith of Pro Football Focus, Judon ranked 118th out of 119 certified edge rushes final season, per PFF’s grading system.

Except there’s some damage we do not learn about but I do not get this one#Dolphins are robust at EDGE and a man like Grayson Murphy has been superb in preseason

After getting traded away from New England resulting from his insistence on a heftier contract, Judon finally needed to wait till the third week of preseason motion to signal a one-year cope with Miami.

The 33-year-old edge participant is anticipated to hitch a Miami crew that might boast a harmful go rusher in 2025 — particularly if Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips each regain their type after recovering from vital accidents over the previous few years.

Judon will look to make life depressing for Drake Maye and New England’s offensive line twice this upcoming season. New England will first face off in opposition to Judon and the Dolphins in Miami throughout Week 2 (Sept. 14) earlier than happening to play Miami once more through the regular-season finale in Week 18.
