The Patriots have launched working again Antonio Gibson, the workforce introduced Monday.
Gibson, 27, is recovering a season-ending torn ACL he suffered throughout a Week 5 win at Buffalo in early October. Previous to his harm, he had been the Patriots’ lead kick returner and No. 3 working again behind Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson.
Gibson was set to enter the final 12 months of the free-agent contract he signed in 2024. His launch creates greater than $2 million in cap area for the Patriots, who are actually scheduled to have greater than $38 million coming into the 2026 league 12 months.
Over two-plus seasons in New England, Gibson rushed for 644 yards and two touchdowns. He averaged 4.4 yards per carry and caught 25 passes for 212 yards. Gibson grew to become a fixture on kick return, the place he averaged 27.2 yards per return and ran again a 90-yard landing at Miami in Week 2, the primary win of the Mike Vrabel period.
He joined the Patrots after spending the primary 4 years of his profession in Washington, the place he entered the league as a third-round select of Memphis in 2020. Gibson rushed for 1,000 yards in his second season, then suffered from fumbling points over his last years with the Commanders.
His exit leaves the Patriots with Stevenson, Henderson, Terrell Jennings and Lan Larison at working again.
