Trevor Story earned the Crimson Sox’ first house run of 2026 on Saturday night. Sadly for him, that wasn’t his most memorable at-bat of the night time.

Late within the sport with the Crimson Sox down 5-4 and two runners on base, Story stepped to the plate with an opportunity to vary Boston’s destiny. However his examine swing at a ball within the dust devolved into chaos and ended with Alex Cora being ejected from the sport.

House plate umpire C.B. Bucknor dominated that Story swung on the pitch and referred to as strike three with out checking with the primary base umpire for a second opinion. Story berated Bucknor for the decision earlier than Cora pulled him away and chewed the umpire out himself, resulting in his ejection.

Story defined the state of affairs postgame.

“Simply clearly disagreed with the decision actual strongly. I feel lots of people did,” Story advised reporters. “I advised him my piece … I don’t have something actually good to say concerning the state of affairs, so I’m not going to say anything.”

Story did make clear that he was upset with each the truth that, in his opinion, he didn’t swing, and that Bucknor didn’t verify with the primary base umpire concerning the name.

The Crimson Sox did wind up tying the sport, so Story’s strikeout didn’t have an effect on the ultimate final result — a 6-5 loss. However it did add to what was an already irritating second sport for Boston.

Exterior of Story’s early house run and Wilyer Abreu’s game-tying homer within the ninth, there wasn’t a lot offense to talk of for Boston. And it didn’t assist that Sonny Gray put the Red Sox in a 3-0 hole early.

The Crimson Sox had been chasing the sport from the second inning on, and couldn’t discover a technique to full the comeback, dropping within the eleventh inning. They’re now 1-1 heading into Sunday’s afternoon tilt. First pitch is ready for 1:40 p.m.
