“He must be quiet … except he desires to be traded.”
Celtics star Jaylen Brown has nearly had it with ESPN pundit Stephen A. Smith.
Throughout Thursday’s taping of “First Take”, Smith careworn that Brown must cease talking after a number of feedback on Twitch which have drawn loads of headlines.
“He must be quiet … except he desires to be traded,” Smith stated.
Brown responded to Smith only a few hours afterward social media.
“I’ll ‘be quiet’ / cease streaming for those who ‘be quiet’ and retire let’s give the folks what they need,” Brown posted to X.
Smith replied to Brown’s problem in brief order.
“Bro, I acquired love for you so I’m not going to even go there. People are looking for you and also you don’t even understand it. Right here you’re making this sort of noise and it hasn’t even been per week because you misplaced a 3-1 lead. You’re HOME,” Smith posted to X. “A champion and a Finals MVP saying his favourite season is the season he’s house within the FIRST ROUND. This isn’t about ME. It’s about YOU….and what YOU SAID. Get pleasure from your offseason.”
Smith has taken umbrage with Brown’s remarks over the last week in regards to the state of officiating within the NBA, stating that Sixers star Joel Embiid flops an excessive amount of, and his repeated musings that the 2025-26 season was the favourite of his NBA profession — even when it ended with a first-round exit by the hands of the Sixers.
“[Flopping] is just not why the Boston Celtics misplaced,” Smith said earlier this week. “The Boston Celtics misplaced as a result of they lived and died with the three, as a result of they performed dumb basketball down the stretch. … They only launched three after three after three and missed six or seven straight threes within the final two minutes [of Game 7].
“They blew this chance. They had been up 3-1, and also you misplaced. This isn’t the time to be speaking about Joel Embiid flopping — rattling certain not [the time] to do a present, a podcast present, or video present about it.”
Brown — who was fined $50,000 by the NBA for his feedback about officiating — tried to clear the air over a number of of his feedback throughout a Twitch dwell stream on Wednesday.
Particularly, Brown pushed again towards stories that there is some “frustration” with the Celtics at this stage of his NBA profession.
“First issues first, lotta stuff swirling across the Celtics and our group,” Brown said. “Hate that our president of basketball operations [Brad Stevens] even had to answer this. Me and Brad have a terrific relationship. I really like Boston. If it was as much as me, I’d play in Boston for the subsequent 10 years. I’ll say it once more: I hate that Brad even had to answer this.”
