As Brad Stevens and the Celtics brace for a busy offseason, Jaylen Brown’s title has already began to get tossed out as a possible commerce candidate if Boston opts for a drastic roster overhaul.

Whereas Brown stays beneath contract for 3 extra seasons as a franchise fixture alongside Jayson Tatum, Boston’s disappointing first-round exit — coupled with several reports relating to Brown’s obvious “frustration” with the Celtics — might need the 29-year-old wing on unsteady floor this summer season.

Talking on NBC on Saturday evening, NBA insider Chris Mannix reported that the Atlanta Hawks reached out to the Celtics final summer season a few potential commerce involving Brown.

“I wrote this week concerning the Atlanta Hawks. Jaylen is a Georgia native. Final offseason, the Celtics and Hawks did have a short dialog about Jaylen Brown,” Mannix famous. “It didn’t actually go anyplace.

“The Hawks had been leery concerning the measurement of Brown’s contract, which on the time was, I imagine, the richest contract in NBA historical past. They usually weren’t actually able to go all in. The Celtics weren’t seeking to give Jaylen Brown away, both. So, it didn’t go anyplace.”

Even when these talks didn’t end in a commerce final summer season, Mannix acknowledged that the Hawks may revisit these discussions with Boston this offseason — particularly if Stevens is extra reticent to alter issues up within the coming weeks.

“That’s a crew, given what occurred this season, that I may see getting fascinated by Jaylen Brown,” Mannix mentioned. “Once more, the Miamis, the Houstons, Golden State: groups which might be theoretically going to be within the combine for Giannis Antetokounmpo, may flip round and make a run at Jaylen Brown. So, I feel that scenario bears watching.”

Talking on Twitch final week, Brown pushed again towards a report from NBA Corridor of Famer Tracy McGrady about Brown’s obvious frustration with the Celtics.

“First issues first, lotta stuff swirling across the Celtics and our group,” Brown said. “Hate that our president of basketball operations even had to reply to this. Me and Brad have an incredible relationship. I like Boston. If it was as much as me, I’d play in Boston for the subsequent 10 years. I’ll say it once more: I hate that Brad even had to reply to this.”

McGrady additionally tried to clear the air on Saturday about his earlier feedback. Regardless of his shut ties to Brown, McGrady denied having any latest discussions with the Celtics star since Boston’s season ended within the first spherical.

“I haven’t talked to Jaylen in any respect about this,” McGrady mentioned on NBC’s “NBA Showtime” Saturday. “I simply know my good friend, and once I see sure issues, I see frustration. After a 3-1 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, all these items is occurring and I’m seeing what I’m seeing as a result of I’ve a relationship with him.

“I’m a part of the media, so if I see one thing, I’m gonna talk about it. I feel they haven’t actually separated my friendship versus me being an analyst and speaking about this. It was nothing that we had a dialog about. It’s the issues that I’m seeing in my good friend and what he’s displaying in entrance of the media.”
