    KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Willson Contreras hit his team-leading tenth homer and Sonny Grey outdueled Seth Lugo because the Boston Pink Sox beat the Kansas Metropolis Royals 3-1 on Monday evening.

    The primary pitch was moved up half-hour as a result of heavy thunderstorms had been forecast for later Monday.

    Grey (5-1) allowed one run on 5 hits in six-plus innings. He struck out 9 and walked one. He has given up two runs over 16 innings (1.13 ERA) since coming back from the injured checklist on Might 6.     Lugo (1-4) allowed two runs on 5 hits in six innings for Kansas Metropolis, which has misplaced seven of eight.

    The Royals had back-to-back hits off Grey within the fifth. Michael Massey lined a double off the glove of left fielder Masataka Yoshida. Kyle Isbel rolled a single into left, however Yoshida threw out Massey on the plate.

    Lugo gave up a bloop single to Mickey Gasper main off the sixth. With one out, Contreras hit a 435-foot shot to left-center for a 2-0 lead.

    Jarren Duran hit a sacrifice fly for the Pink Sox within the seventh. Jac Caglianone doubled within the Royals’ run in backside half.

    LHP Ranger Suarez (2-2, 2.44 ERA) begins for the Pink Sox because the collection continues Tuesday. The Royals could have a bullpen sport as a result of their scheduled starter, Kris Bubic, was positioned on the 15-day injured checklist Monday, retroactive to Might 15, with left elbow soreness.
