    Bruins prospect among 7 Boston players named to Olympic rosters

    Dans Locmelis impressed taking part in for Latvia at World Championships in Might.

    Six gamers on the Bruins’ NHL roster will symbolize their respective nations throughout the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina subsequent month. 

    Defenseman Charlie McAvoy and goaltender Jeremy Swayman will play for Crew USA, whereas forwards David Pastrnak and Pavel Zacha will skate for Czechia. Middle Elias Lindholm made Sweden’s roster, whereas defenseman Henrik Jokiharju will symbolize Finland. 

    However, Boston had one other participant make the lower for the Winter Video games. Prospect Dans Locmelis will play for Latvia. 

    Locmelis, 21, has elevated his inventory in current months as one in all Boston’s high kids — scoring 12 targets and recording 9 assists in 30 video games for the Windfall Bruins this season.

    Drafted by Boston within the fourth spherical of the 2022 NHL Draft, Locmelis has emerged as a possible NHLer amid his temporary stint within the professional ranks.

    After spending two seasons at UMass, the Latvian-born ahead thrived in his first style of motion within the AHL final spring, recording 12 factors (three targets, 9 assists) over simply six video games with the Windfall Bruins. 

    The 2-way ahead carried that sturdy play over to the World Championships with Latvia in Might, scoring 4 targets and 6 factors over seven video games. The ahead even garnered praise from Sidney Crosby for his play on the international stage. 

    “I simply realized I can play at this stage, and now you play towards a Canadian workforce stuffed with NHL gamers, and I felt like I can sustain with them,” Locmelis said at Warrior Ice Arena in September. “Possibly not dominate them but, however I simply really feel I can play at their stage.”

    The Bruins’ burgeoning prospect pool has impressed on the worldwide stage as of late. Whereas Team USA didn’t medal at World Juniors this year, Bruins prospect Will Zellers led that workforce with 5 targets and eight factors over 5 video games. James Hagens ranked second with two targets and 5 assists throughout the event.
