FOXBORO — Mike Vrabel isn’t able to bail on Andy Borregales.

The Patriots head coach backed his rookie kicker Monday, saying he has “full confidence” in Borregales regardless of his three missed kicks (one subject aim, two further factors) over New England’s first two video games.

Borregales rebounded from his two missed PATs in Sunday’s 33-27 win over Miami by drilling a clutch 53-yard subject aim with 1:47 remaining. Vrabel awarded him a recreation ball within the locker room.

“I don’t suppose we’re able to have that dialog but (about altering kickers),” Vrabel stated. “He’s made each kick within the fourth quarter. He’s made significant kicks. That’s the place I’m at. I wouldn’t have gone on the market with Andy (on the 53-yarder), and it wasn’t like I debated it lengthy. He is aware of he has a job to do, and we’ve got full confidence in him to do his job.”

A sixth-round draft pick of Miami, Borregales beat out journeyman Parker Romo for a roster spot in coaching camp regardless of lacking two of his 5 preseason field-goal makes an attempt. Two video games into the common season, Borregales is 4-for-5 on subject targets and 2-for-4 on further factors, and his botched kickoff late in Sunday’s recreation gave the Dolphins possession on the 40-yard line, establishing a last-minute comeback bid that fell quick.

In the meantime, Romo, who landed on Atlanta’s apply squad following his launch from the Patriots, delivered the very best efficiency of his profession Sunday night time, going 5-for-5 on field-goal tries because the Falcons beat the Vikings 22-6.

“I’m completely happy for Parker,” Vrabel stated. I’m completely happy for Parker. That’s the way it goes. He went down there, took benefit of his alternatives. I loved my time with him right here, so I’m completely happy that he went down there and helped himself.”
