Julian Edelman is shopping for into the hype surrounding Patriots rookie operating again TreVeyon Henderson.

The previous Patriots huge receiver — talking to NBC Sports activities Boston’s Tom E. Curran on the Patriots Speak podcast — stated that Henderson’s straight-line pace and playmaking capabilities might have him set for a breakout season in Foxborough.

“TreVeyon Henderson might be the steal of the draft,” Edelman told Curran on Tuesday. “I believe that’s the sort of man you wanted to draft that turns into a part of that nucleus with Drake (Maye). That’s the way you construct your group.

“You construct your group by the draft, guys that you simply need to are available to implement what your id is,” Edelman added. “Simply from listening to coaches discuss him together with his maturity, the way in which he’s as knowledgeable, that’s gonna be actually good.

“If he can exit and have manufacturing, everybody’s gonna see how he works, how he’s as an individual on and off the sphere. It makes the opposite guys within the locker room like, ‘Man, that’s why he’s doing this.’ So I believe that was my greatest takeaway [from training camp]. He could possibly be a very good weapon.”

Whereas loads of the main focus going into coaching camp revolved round 2025 first-round decide Will Campbell, Henderson can also be wanting like an instantaneous impression participant for New England — giving the Patriots some much-needed explosiveness on the offensive facet of the ball.

Henderson has scored a pair of touchdowns throughout his two preseason video games towards the Commanders and Vikings, headlined by a 100-yard kickoff return landing on the primary play of his NFL profession.

Past his pure burst of pace, Henderson’s pass-catching talents and knack for doling out punishment by preventing off tackles and blocking paints the image of a do-it-all offensive weapon for 2025 and past.

Regardless of the entire reward that has been heaped on Henderson over the previous couple of weeks, the 2025 second-round decide is making an attempt to remain even-keeled and never get swept up within the hype revolving round him.

“I don’t actually take note of all of the social media stuff,” Henderson said Tuesday. “The most important factor I do know, individuals reward me now as a result of I’ve this success. However I really feel prefer it doesn’t come from real love. On the identical time, individuals see me as a soccer participant, so if issues come crashing down, I do know that love turns into hate. The most important factor is I hold my eyes on God and give attention to what he sees in me … That’s what I hold my give attention to.”
